Chapter 271: Protect the Future of the Tribe (1)
Chapter 271: Protect the Future of the Tribe (1)
After all, the first thing invaders usually did was search for the tribe leaders, even if they had to tear the entire place apart to find them.
"Stay here, alright?" Roxanna said softly as she led Skiv toward the underground storage room. Lilo was trembling in his arms, while several elders, including Grandma Mia, were already hiding inside. "Don’t open the door unless I’m the one opening it."
"Shouldn’t I-I help you fight as well?" Skiv asked in a trembling voice.
Roxanna smiled gently and shook her head. Her eyes slowly moved toward the children standing behind him. "The future of this tribe is more important. We need all of you to stay safe so you can continue this tribe one day." She paused for a moment before adding quietly, "But I hope nothing happens to us either."
Because if the Sky Tribe won this battle, they would definitely find the children and elders sooner or later.
"L-Leader!" Skiv quickly grabbed Roxanna’s hand before she could close the door. "Please... take care of yourself."
Roxanna softened her gaze as she said, "I will."
The moment the door closed, she turned toward Azul. "I know my archery skills are terrible right now, but can I still use the poison? Don’t worry, I have another bow and arrows that never miss."
Azul didn’t ask any more questions and immediately nodded instead. "Of course."
The two of them quickly headed toward Cyrus, who was gathering weapons and poison from the storage hut. His face looked pale and tense, probably because he thought the Vixeria Tribe was in danger because of him.
"Leader! Look at the sky!"
One of the warriors suddenly shouted while pointing upward. Roxanna immediately lifted her head toward the night sky.
Dozens of giant eagles were flying above the tribe, but what made her heart sink was the glowing red crystals clutched in their sharp claws.
"Watch out!" Roxanna shouted. "They brought stones!"
No, not ordinary stones.
Those were crystals taken from fire-element demon beasts. The red crystals glowed brightly under the moonlight, and the moment the eagles started dropping them one by one, flames exploded across the settlement.
"Fire at them!" Cyrus shouted immediately.
The warriors of Vixeria quickly shot arrows toward the giant birds, but unlike normal birds, the eagles easily dodged most of the attacks while flying through the air. Even so, several of them still failed to escape the arrows, especially the ones shot by Cyrus.
At the same time, Azul spun his Wind Piercing Spear, creating strong gusts of wind that knocked the burning crystals away before they could hit Roxanna.
"They’re burning our homes..." Roxanna whispered as she stared at the fire spreading farther and farther through the settlement.
[If this keeps going, the entire settlement will burn down.]
She gritted her teeth tightly, feeling both helpless and angry at the same time.
[All the hard work my people put into building this home will disappear just like that.]
[Ding! Ding! Ding!]
[Host, there are several emergency items available in the System Shop that can help extinguish the fire!]
Roxanna’s eyes widened slightly. [Emergency items?]
[Yes!] The system’s voice quickly echoed inside her head. [Because the settlement is currently in danger, the system has temporarily unlocked special disaster-relief items!]
A glowing screen immediately appeared in front of Roxanna’s eyes.
[Emergency Water Bomb: 500 SP]
[Rain Summoning Scroll (Small Area): 5,000 SP]
[Fire-Resistant Barrier: 8,000 SP
[Portable Water Cannons: 1,200 SP]
Roxanna almost cursed out loud when she saw the prices. [Why are they so expensive?!]
[Because these are emergency items!] The system replied quickly. [But if the fire keeps spreading, your losses will become much bigger!]
Another explosion suddenly rang through the air as one of the burning crystals landed on a rooftop nearby.
The dry roof instantly caught fire.
"Water! Bring more water!" one of the tribe members shouted desperately, but it was useless because the flames were spreading far too quickly.
At the same time, another burning crystal fell directly toward one of the nearby huts.
Roxanna gritted her teeth before saying, [Give me the Rain Summoning Scroll!]
[Ding! Successfully purchased: Rain Summoning Scroll!]
[Remaining Spirit Points (SP): 371,950]
A glowing blue scroll instantly appeared in Roxanna’s hand. For a brief second, even she looked stunned by how suddenly it appeared.
"What is that?" Azul asked while knocking another burning crystal away with his spear.
"No time to explain," Roxanna replied quickly.
Another explosion erupted nearby, and the fire spread even farther across the settlement. The heat was becoming unbearable, while thick smoke slowly filled the air.
Without wasting another second, Roxanna immediately opened the scroll and the moment the seal broke, bright blue light burst into the sky.
The warriors froze in shock, even the giant eagles flying above the settlement let out startled cries.
Rumble!
Dark clouds suddenly gathered above the Vixeria Tribe. Cold wind swept through the burning settlement, causing the flames to flicker wildly.
Moments later, heavy rain poured down from the sky.
The flames crackled loudly as the rain rapidly extinguished the fire spreading throughout the tribe.
The eagle beastkins let out loud, piercing shrieks, their cries filled with anger and frustration as the heavy rain continued pouring from the sky.
"When will the rain stop?" Cyrus asked while keeping his eyes on the enemies above them.
The system’s voice suddenly echoed inside Roxanna’s mind. [The rain will last for ten minutes. After that, you won’t be able to use the Rain Summoning Scroll again for one day.]
Roxanna clicked her tongue softly because the system hadn’t told her that information earlier.
"Ten minutes," Roxanna answered quickly. "After that, I won’t be able to summon the rain anymore."
Cyrus gave a small nod to show he understood.
"Calen!" he suddenly shouted.
The dog beastman immediately ran toward him through the rain. "What?!"
Without wasting even a second, Cyrus spoke in a firm voice. "The rain is making it hard for them to see clearly right now. Use this chance to take the children and elders away from the settlement. Don’t come back until we give you a signal."
Calen instantly frowned. "Why are you giving me that task?"
Cyrus looked straight into his eyes with a serious expression. "Because I know you’re strong, and I know you’ll do everything you can to protect the people you care about."
